The CEO

The roboreceptionist says, “I’m sorry, that session has been prioritized up to GC. They’ve finished Hole 3.”

Bren writes down ‘Hole 3?’ and replies, “Oh, I should have checked my notices before I logged on. Thank you.”

Bren gets back in the elevator and presses the GC button, the top floor. The door opens to see a clone of the same roboreceptionist as the floors below.

“I need to see the latest files on the operation concerning the attack at 1029 Bloomfield Street in Hoboken.”

“There’s a discussion in progress as they’re teeing off on 4.”

“OK?”

Bren and Mikl are surprised to see a door slide open beside the reception desk to reveal the driving area of a golf course with a small crowd gathered around The CEO and the Director of National Intelligence.

The CEO says, “Yes, the operation was a huge success! Doesn’t matter if Tyndal was there or not. She’s either dead or in hiding now. No longer a threat.” The CEO whacks a mighty drive down the middle of the fairway.

Mikl writes down, ‘Do they see you?’ and gives Bren a nudge.

‘Not sure.’

Mikl’s question was soon answered when the Secretary of War leans over and whispers in Bren’s ear, “Who are you here with? You’ve got a great ass, btw.”

Bren whispers back to him, “Careful. I’m one of The Prince’s programmers.”

Mikl has to control himself from laughing. The Secretary of War has quite the reputation for being a ‘lady’s man’.

The CEO continues speaking as the DNI gets ready to tee off. “Yes, let’s get this finished. Bomb Matti Mattisson’s house this evening when they’re all home. That should definitely put an end to them ever thinking about merging. Forever!”

The DNI’s drive goes down the center of the fairway but about 30 yards short of The CEO’s ball. The Treasurer then joins The CEO to play out the rest of the hole.

Bren walks away and writes, ‘Going into Clubhouse, now.’

Instead of seeing a restaurant or lounge area, when Bren enters the Clubhouse, she is taken back to the GC reception area. “I need to see the first files on the operation to stop Robox from merging with GenTease.”

“Thank you.”

Bren is directed to viewing room 6 where the files start playing.

After watching videos for about 5 minutes, Bren says, “Thank you. I’ve seen enough. I need to go now.”

Bren sees the exit sign again, presses it on the laptop screen, and puts her finger to her lips, telling Mikl to shush.

After everything is closed down and powered off, Bren speaks. “They want to bankrupt Pesos!”

“Yes! And the operation to keep Robox and GenTease from merging is the last step in the plan. First, they beat him to the punch in mining all the Bitcoins. Then, the setback with his moon program and losing his publishing business. Then, using all their Bitcoins to buy F3 tokens! Merging Robox and GenTease is the only way he can regain his fortune.”
